Episode #59: Things that are still missing in women’s soccer and futsal in Croatia

“This is just the tip of the iceberg, what’s more important is what lies underneath” – Jakov Ungarov

Women’s soccer in Croatia has been in need for quality development for some time now. Women’s futsal, on the other hand, didn’t technically even exist until an official league was founded this past winter.

Some big steps have been taken to develop both sports but a few of the essentials are still ironically missing. Quality schools and structures for a solid foundation should be the focus of long-term development, however, in practical life things seem to happen the other way around as clubs and federations focus on the older categories and much less on the younger ones.

When we get these priorities straight in Croatia, I believe that women’s soccer and futsal will see much more quality development in the long run.
